Detectives with the Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) First District are looking for help to identify and find a suspect after a burglary on the 1400 block of Maryland Avenue NE on Saturday, December 9th.
At around 12:40 a.m. that day, a suspect broke into a business on that block. Inside, he tried to open the cash but was unsuccessful. The suspect left the business and got into a waiting vehicle, described as a black Hyundai Santa Fe. Nothing was taken.
A nearby surveillance camera captured a person of interest in this case that can be seen in the above photos.

At 9:02 p.m. Sunday, a woman was arrested on the 2000 block of Benning Road NE on charges of Destruction of Public Property.
Reporting Illegal Activity
Prompt and detailed reporting of suspicious activities helps prevent crime. If a citizen sees suspicious activity, or any activity that seems out of the ordinary, immediately call 911.
When reporting suspicious activity, give an accurate description. Here are some things to include:
- Brief description of the activity;
- Date, time and location of the activity;
- Physical identifiers of anyone you observed;
- Descriptions of vehicles;
- Information about where people involved in suspicious activities may have gone;
- Your name and information.
