Detectives with the Metropolitan Police Department’s Major Crash Investigations Unit are investigating a fatal traffic crash that occurred on Saturday, July 14, near the 1500 block of Pennsylvania Avenue SE on the John Sousa Bridge.
At around 3:08 a.m., the operator of a 2011 Lexus was traveling eastbound on the 1500 block of Pennsylvania Avenue SE. The car struck a curb, causing the operator to lose control of the vehicle and suffer multiple impacts afterward.
When officers arrived on the scene they discovered an unconscious, unresponsive adult male.
DC Fire and Emergency Medical Services (FEMS) found no signs consistent with life and pronounced the operator of the 2011 Lexus dead on the scene.
The bridge was closed early morning Saturday for the investigation.
The decedent has been identified as 25-year-old Johnathan Sadler, of Northwest DC.
