Officers from the Metropolitan Police Department First District are currently investigating an incident that took place between 6 and 6:15 p.m. Wednesday evening in the area of the 700 block of Seventh Street SE, between G and I Streets.
A woman woke up on the ground and realized that her purse was missing. However, she is unable to what happened.
Her property was later recovered a short distance away.
Police believe that she was the victim of an assault and seek anyone who was in the area at the time or that may have any information. They are also interested in security footage that may have captured any activity on the street.
