The Shakespeare Theatre Company (STC) has extended their offer to Federal Employees who were affected by the shutdown, by releasing 100 more free tickets for Richard the Third at STC for Opening Night on February 5.
Shakespeare Theatre Company (610 F St. NW) is offering free tickets to Federal government employees affected by the government shutdown for our production of Richard the Third. Formerly furloughed federal employees can also take advantage of discounted tickets to see the STC production of Richard III.
During Shakespeare Theatre Company’s original offer, they provided hundreds of tickets for federal employees. “Shakespeare Theatre Company s the work of federal employees and knows that financial recovery may take some time for employees and theatregoers,” the company said in a statement.
Many consider the play an appropriate one for today’s climate. Director David Muse said it is a timely one. “It’s about how a country responds to a leader like this. We watch people negotiate with their own mortality, align themselves with power and resist secretly if at all.”
