Police Seek Suspect in Northeast Burglary

Detectives from the MPD First District are looking for help identifying a suspect in a burglary that happened on Sunday, March 17, on the 100 block of Tenth Street NE.

At around 6:00 a.m. that day, the suspect got inside the residence while the residents were at home.  Once inside, he took property and then fled the scene.

The suspect was captured by a nearby surveillance camera and can be seen in the photos below and video above.

At 7:30 a.m. Tuesday, a woman was arrested at the First District Station (101 M St. SW) on charges of Theft First Degree.

At 2:16 p.m. Tuesday, a man was arrested on the 1500 block of Benning Road NE on charges of Simple Assault.

At 3:23 p.m. Tuesday, a woman was arrested on the 600 block of H Street NE on charges of Distribution of a Controlled Substance

At 3:55 p.m. Tuesday, a woman was arrested on the 1600 block of Benning Road NE on charges of Distribution of a Controlled Substance.

At 5:10 p.m. Tuesday, there was a burglary on the 1800 block of Maryland Avenue NE.

At 8 p.m. Tuesday, a woman was arrested on the Unit block of N Street SW on charges of Simple Assault.

Reporting Illegal Activity

  • Prompt and detailed reporting of suspicious activities helps prevent crime. If a citizen sees suspicious activity, or any activity that seems out of the ordinary, immediately call 911.
  • When reporting suspicious activity, give an accurate description. Here are some things to include:
  • Brief description of the activity;
  • Date, time and location of the activity;
  • Physical identifiers of anyone you observed;
  • Descriptions of vehicles;
  • Information about where people involved in suspicious activities may have gone;
  • Your name and information.

“As we continue to work with our community in the prevention of crime, we ask that if you see something suspicious you us immediately,” says First District Commander Morgan C. Kane, MPA.
