There were multiple robberies on the Hill over the Memorial Day long weekend. Two businesses and one individual were robbed. In all but one case, the suspects were armed.
On Saturday, May 25, at around 10:15 p.m two suspects had entered a restaurant on the 900 block of 11th Street SE, threatened the employees with a gun, and stole money from the cash . The suspects got into a white minivan and drove toward I-295. Fortunately, no one was injured during the incident.
The firs suspect is described as a black male, 6’3″ tall. He was wearing a black hoodie and was armed with handgun. The second suspect is also described as a black male, 5’10” tall and wearing a blue hoodie.
Business Robbed on Pennsylvania Avenue
On Sunday, May 26 MPD officer went to the 1400 block of Pennsylvania Ave SE to investigate a robbery. The officers were told that at approximately 8:35 p.m., two suspects entered an establishment in the block, threatened the employees with a gun, and stole money from the cash . The suspects exited the establishment and ran away on foot. Fortunately, no one was injured during the incident.
The suspects are described as only as black males. One is described as wearing a black hood and mask. The victim was unable to give further clothing descriptions for either suspect.
Man Robbed on F Street NE
At around 11:30 p.m., Saturday, May 26, a man was walking on the 1300 block of F Street NE when he two suspects came up on his rear. The suspects hit him from behind, knocking him to the ground. Once he was on the ground, they demanded his stuff. The victim surrendered his cellphone and wallet. The suspects took them and fled the scene on foot. Both suspects are described as black males in their teens wearing dark clothing.

At 1:01 a.m. Saturday, there was an assault with a dangerous weapon on the 400 block of 17th Street NE.
At 1:50 a.m. Saturday, a man was arrested on the 900 block of Third Street SE on charges of Driving Under the Influence.
At 3 a.m. Saturday, a man was arrested on the 400 block of 16th Street NE on charges of Threatening to Do Bodily Harm.
At 3:57 a.m. Saturday, there was an assault with a dangerous weapon on the 1900 blcok of Benning Road NE.
At 4 a.m. Saturday, a man was arrested on the 1000 block of First Street SE on charges of Burglary.
At 4:01 a.m. Saturday, a man was arrested on the 300 block of Maryland Avenue NE on charges of Driving Under the Influence.
At 9:30 p.m. Saturday, a man was arrested on the 700 block of Langston Terrace NE on charges of Simple Assault.
Reporting Illegal Activity
Prompt and detailed reporting of suspicious activities helps prevent crime. If a citizen sees suspicious activity, or any activity that seems out of the ordinary, immediately call 911.
When reporting suspicious activity, give an accurate description. Here are some things to include:
- Brief description of the activity;
- Date, time and location of the activity;
- Physical identifiers of anyone you observed;
- Descriptions of vehicles;
- Information about where people involved in suspicious activities may have gone;
- Your name and information.
