On Wednesday a woman was shopping in a 7-Eleven store on the 1500 block of Benning Road NE when she noticed a man taking photos at an angle under her clothing. She called the store manager for help. Police were ed, and the man was arrested on charges of Voyeurism (image).
Gunshots Fired on Independence Avenue
Police are investigating reports of the sounds of gunshots heard on the 1600 block of Independence Avenue SE at around 11:30 a.m. Thursday morning.
Officers who investigated the scene found shell casings in the street. The window on a parked car was damaged.
No victim was located, but Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) K-9 Units checked the area to be sure.

At 1:18 p.m. Thursday, there was an assault with a dangerous weapon at a specialty store on the 1500 block of Benning Road NE.
At 6:07 p.m. Thursday, a car was stolen on the 1500 block of Pennsylvania Avenue SE.
Reporting Illegal Activity
Prompt and detailed reporting of suspicious activities helps prevent crime. If a citizen sees suspicious activity, or any activity that seems out of the ordinary, immediately call 911.
When reporting suspicious activity, give an accurate description. Here are some things to include:
- Brief description of the activity;
- Date, time and location of the activity;
- Physical identifiers of anyone you observed;
- Descriptions of vehicles;
- Information about where people involved in suspicious activities may have gone;
- Your name and information.
