Police captured a suspect in an armed carjacking on Seventh Street SE last night. Witnesses said the suspect was captured on the 200 block of Seventh around 10 p.m. Monday night.
Police received a call about a carjacking that took place in front of 721 H Street NE around 9:30 p.m. Tuesday night. The suspect had pointed a handgun at the driver and stolen the vehicle.
A few minutes later, officers saw someone driving the stolen car around Seventh Street and North Carolina Avenue SE. The police found the car on the 600 block of North Carolina Avenue SE a few minutes later, abandoned after a crash.
Police pursued the suspect and with the assistance of witnesses, arrested him without incident on the 200 block of Seventh Street SE.
