Police Arrest Burglar in Stolen Clothing

Police arrested a burglar wearing clothing stolen only hours earlier from a Northeast home Thursday morning.

In the early hours of Jan. 30, a man broke into a house through the attached garage and rear door of a home on the 1400 block of C Street NE. He stole a bunch of stuff, including a distinct item of clothing.

Police were called to the scene around 4:45 a.m., and while they were still on-scene investigating, the suspect was seen in the area. He was wearing the same distinct item of clothing that had just been reported stolen.

Police stopped him, and after he was identified, arrested him without incident.

Police did not provide a description of the item.

Anyone who has knowledge of this incident should call police at (202) 727-9099 or text your tip to the Department’s Text Tip Line at 50411. Crime Solvers of Washington DC currently offers a reward of up to $1,000 to anyone who provides information that leads to the arrest and indictment of the person or persons responsible for a crime committed in the District of Columbia.
