Grubb’s Pharmacies to Offer COVID-19 Testing

Starting Tuesday, May 12, you will be able to get testing at three local pharmacies. Working with medical technology company eTrueNorth, Grubb’s Pharmacy Capitol Hill (326 East Capitol St. NE), Grubb’s Southeast Pharmacy in Anacostia (1800 Martin Luther King Jr. Ave. SE) and Morgan Care Pharmacy (3001 P St. NW) will offer tests with no out-of-pocket cost to patients.

The three-locally owned pharmacies have partnered with eTrueNorth and the federal Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) to provide testing to the public to help address the COVID-19 crisis. Pharmacy staff and students will provide extra to patients during COVID-19 recovery efforts with drive-up test collection.

Patients can make appointments for testing at DoINeedACovid19Test.com. Grubb’s and Morgan’s will provide appointment-based, drive-up COVID-19 test collection for pre-screened individuals.

There is no cost for testing. You are eligible for testing under the rules set by the District: if you are a healthcare worker or first responder, have underlying conditions; you have been in with a known case of COVID-19, or have symptoms of the disease. You will be pre-screened to ensure eligibility.

According to the Centers for Disease Control & Prevention (CDC), Coronavirus symptoms may appear two to 14 days after exposure to the virus. Symptoms include cough, shortness of breath or difficulty breathing and fever but also chills, muscle pain, sore throat or a new loss of taste or smell.

Grubb’s and Morgan’s Pharmacy will provide drive-up testing for eligible patients. The tests are self-istered using a nasal swab under the supervision of staff. Patients receive an email letting them know when their results are available, usually in three to five business days.

Pharmacist and co-owner of the pharmacies Joan Kim said that providing additional testing is one way to help fight the virus. “We need widespread coronavirus testing now. We all want life to return to normal and one way to help is more COVID-19 testing options,” said Joan Kim, Pharmacist and co-owner of the pharmacies.

Laboratory services are provided by eTrueNorth, a technology company that enables laboratory testing and other services at retail pharmacies and holds a contract with HHS. There will be no COVID-19 testing on Mother’s Day Sunday, May 19th and on Memorial Day Monday, May 25th.

Learn more and book an appointment at doineedacovid19test.com. You will need to print and bring your test voucher to the test.
