Teenaged Suspect in Shooting Turns Self In To Police

 A 16-year-old juvenile male of Southeast, DC, turned himself in at the First District Police Station in connection with a shooting on Monday, April 8.

He was wanted in connection with a shooting three days earlier. On Friday, April 5, at approximately 8:56 p.m., the suspect approached the victim in the 500 block of 13th Street SE.  The suspect shot the victim then fled the scene in a vehicle.  The victim was transported to a local hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.

The detectives’ investigation revealed the victim and suspect were known to each other.

After he reported to the station, the 16-year-old was arrested pursuant to a DC Superior Court custody order and was charged with Assault with a Dangerous Weapon (Gun).

MPD currently offers a reward of up to $1,000 to anyone who provides information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for a crime committed in the District of Columbia.
