Police Seek Person of Interest in Dognapping

The two-year-old male Shih Tzu named Theo has been reunited with his owner.

Now, the police are looking for help finding a person and car they say are of interest in the dognapping.

Theo was taken at around 12:58 p.m. Saturday, July 13. His owner left him, together with her purse in the car while parked in the 1900 block of M Street SE, a relatively quiet block along the river where the Anacostia Community Boathouse is located, along the river south of the Congressional Cemetery.

Theo has since been reunited with his owner. But police are looking person of interest and a vehicle. The car is described as a black Hyundai Elantra with tinted windows and chrome rims and was last seen bearing a Georgia tag of DAA7179 and can be seen in the photos above.

Anyone who has knowledge of the circumstances surrounding this dog theft or any other should take no action but call the police at (202) 727-9099 or text your tip to the Department’s Text Tip Line at 50411.  The Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) currently offers a reward of up to $1,000 to anyone who provides information that leads to the arrest and indictment of the person or persons responsible for a crime committed in the District of Columbia.
