CommunityNominations Open for 2024 Brickie Awards

Nominations Open for 2024 Brickie Awards

The 18th annual Ward 6 Brickie Awards are set for Thursday, Dec. 5. The location has not yet been finalized, but you should block your calendars from 6 to 8 p.m. We’ll be announcing the location soon!

The Brickie Awards are an annual celebration of Ward 6, with actual bricks given as awards to winners in five categories: Neighbor, Community Organization, Business, Public Service, and Civic Pride.

Established as the ‘Livable Walkable Awards’ by then-Ward 6 Councilmember Tommy Wells, a 2023 winner, the awards are presented as engraved bricks. So, the event was nicknamed ‘The Brickies’ by Hill Rag Editor Andrew Lightman. The tradition continues under Ward 6 Councilmember Charles Allen (D)!

The 2018 Brickie awards on display. Yep: actual Bricks.

Nominations for these annual community awards come from residents. Which neighbor or neighborhood business has gone above and beyond? Who’s been doing great work in our community for years? Do you know someone who works for the DC Government who’s been a shining star for Ward 6?

Send in nominations now! Allen says that every year, his office will get hundreds of nominations. The stories that emerge are insights into the many wonderful and sometimes unseen people in our community that make this such a great place to call home.

Nominate the people or groups you believe deserve recognition this year.

Award Categories:

  • Neighbor Award
  • Community Organization Award
  • Business Award
  • Public Service Award
  • Civic Pride Award

Submit your nominations by Monday, Nov. 11. Then Allen and your neighbors Dec. 5 to celebrate the community at the Brickies!
