Police Seek Suspects in Shooting Near Southwest Safeway

Police are looking for suspects involved in a Saturday shooting near the Fourth Street SW Safeway.

On Saturday, Dec. 14, at approximately 9:47 a.m., Metropolitan Police District (MPD) officers were alerted to the sounds of gunshots by a shot spotter in the area of 1100  4th Street SW.

When they got there, they found a victim on the ground. He was conscious and breathing, but suffering from a gunshot wound.

“There is no known nexus to the Safeway and the victim sustained injuries believed to be non-life threatening,” said MPD spokesperson Tom Lynch.

The victim told officers he had been exiting the parking garage via a stairwell when he was shot. He said the suspects ran back down the stairs to the garage.

DC Fire and EMS (DC FEMS) responded to the scene and transported the victim to an area hospital for the treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.

According to the police report, officers recovered 8 baggies of a “green leafy substance” from the scene.

The suspects were captured by nearby surveillance cameras and can be seen in the photos above.
