Police Seek Second Suspect in Navy Yard Shooting

Police made an arrest in a Navy Yard shooting that happened Saturday night.

Around 9:11 p.m. July 6, 2024, Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) officers went to the 1200 block of Half Street SE after getting calls about a shooting. Officers found an adult male, conscious and breathing suffering from apparent non-life-threatening gunshot wounds. He was transported to a local area hospital for treatment.

Poice say that the shooting victim and a second suspect exchanged gunfire.

After investigation, MPD detectives arrested a 29-year-old Southeast man and charged him with Assault with a Dangerous Weapon and Destruction of Property.

A second suspect was captured by nearby surveillance cameras and can be seen in the photos abve and video below.

MPD currently offers a reward of up to $10,000 to anyone who provides information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for a violent crime committed in the District of Columbia.

Second Shooting in Southeast

MPD needs the public’s help finding a vehicle in a shooting that occurred Monday, about a mile from the Saturday shooting.

On Monday, July 8, at around 8:02 p.m., police got calls about a shooting in the 1200 block of Potomac Avenue SE, in the triangle park at the intersection with K and 12th Streets SE, just east of the Marine Barracks.

When officers got there, they found four people –two adult males and two adult females– suffering from gunshot wounds. The two adult male victims were transported to local hospitals for treatment of life-threatening injuries. The two adult female victims were transported to local hospitals for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.

An officer stationed half a block away from the incident responded within seconds.

Arrest in H Street & Starburst Plaza Attempted Robbery

Police have made an arrest in a robbery near Starburst Plaza.
Just after midnight on Sunday, July 7, a suspect approached a stranger near the intersection of 18th Street and Benning Road, Northeast and implied he had a firearm. The victim ran from the suspect. The suspect fled the scene with nothing gained.
About 15 minutes later, around 12:25 a.m., the suspect approached a second victim in the 1300 block of H Street NE and implied he had a firearm. That victim also ran from the suspect.  The suspect fled the scene without obtaining any property.
Responding officers apprehended the suspect. An 18-year-old Northeast man was arrested and charged with Attempt to Commit Robbery.
